Project Khuluma aims to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of using text messaging as a means for social networking and support among adolescents living with HIV in South Africa. Khuluma means ‘to speak’ in Zulu but is widely understood by speakers of many other languages across South Africa – SMS support groups will allow people to Khuluma with others in similar situations to themselves and ultimately improve their health outcomes.

The main objective of this pilot is to provide adolescents living with HIV with ongoing social support during the most critical period of rapid development.
